Geotechnical exploration is a term used to refer to drilling to collect information relating to the engineering design of foundations of structures, roads, airports, and other civil facilities. Geotechnical drilling is overseen by an engineer who confirms the placement of the drill and makes sure that the drilling is conducted properly.
